TitlePrint methods and history
DescriptionThis series holds records related to the history of printing, local and foreign printing innovations and printing methods collected during Pickering's time as a student and lecturer at various printing schools (London County Council Central School of Arts, Bolt Court of Photo Engraving, Medway College of Art and Crafts, Guildford School of Art and Crafts).

This includes articles on colour theory, photo composition, lithography and mounting systems, paper samples, articles by Beatrice Ward, as well as English and US-American bibliographies and a manuscript of "The Paper Maker's Guide or the Art of Paper Making". Journal articles ranging from 1946 to 1956 feature the book artists George Baxter and William Morris.

These files have been grouped together to form a series because they were collected by Charles Pickering in order to educate himself on the innovations of the printing industry. Because there is considerable cross-pollination to the series CLP/1 Print education within the file structure the series forms a series within CLP/1. The content of the files has been left in their original state.
