Description | This file contains 20 large format black and white copy negatives reproducing what appear to be the original exhibition panels for Julie Mimmack, 'The Cage is Fixed,' Cockpit Gallery, 29 Sep - 3 Oct 1981. The panels show a mixture of photographs, drawing, explanatory text, and poetry, on themes of disability, sexuality, access, wheelchair use, representation, and self.
3 small black and white prints of a photograph of a woman (presumably the artist) in a wheelchair, with a camera and a tripod; 2 larger black and white prints, the first is of three people, in front of a stair case, one man in a wheelchair, looking back towards the camera and smiling.
Another photograph features a slogan written on it, 'it might be YOUR year of the disabled - for me it’s the rest of my life'. Also, 1 piece of note paper mentioning Battersea Arts Centre. |
