DescriptionThis file contains a variety of documents relating to Free Music Production (FMP), a record label founded by Jost Gebers, Peter Brötzmann, Peter Kowald, and Alexander von Schlippenbach in the former German Democratic Republic. It was devoted to publishing music by free jazz and improvising musicians from East and West Germany and also to producing tours and events for these musicians. In the file there are record catalogues which list all FMP numbers, posters for concerts produced by the FMP for FMP artists such as the Heinz Becker Group, Brötzmann/Tchicai/Cyrille/Graves, Fred Van Hove, The Johnny Rondo Duo, Mike Cooper, Freie Musik, etc.; correspondence between the FMP and Hannah Charlton regarding press photographs and FMP record orders, a photocopy of a chapter from the book 'Writers and Politics in Modern Germany' and an article from the Jazz Journal reviewing the jazz scene in Germany in 1979.
