TitleFuture of British Film Industry 1975-1977
DescriptionDuring the 1970s, the British government were believed Hollywood was a threat to British film-making and so proposed to tax American Film companies and American Filmmakers working in the UK more than their British counterparts. In the mid 1970s the Association of Cinematograph Television and Allied Technicians started lobbying the government to not enact higher tax on Americans making films in the UK as this would serious impact the British film industry and reduce opportunities for employment in the sector. Stanley Kubrick was one of of the members of the industry opposing these tax changes and used his contacts to discuss and share information.
