| Description | One set of 10"x8" negatives for the PG_MS sequence of publicity stills. The negatives have been divided between 4 packets. Like the stills themselves the negatives are numbered PG_MS_1-118. They mainly consist of action shots taken during the filming. There are also a number of studio portraits of the main cast members in costume and other identity shots of actors in costume on set. There are a few behind the scenes shots showing Stanley Kubrick working including talking to actors on set and also one shot of Kirk Douglas out of costume and with his wife and son (PG_MS_57). There are also 4 unnumbered shots featuring Stanley Kubrick on set working. There is also one more modern negative measuring 5"x4". It features Kubrick wearing a prop helmet and talking to Kirk Douglas in costume near the battlefield set.
The shots were selected from the contact sheets or production stills SK/8/8/2, SK/8/8/4 to publicise the film on its release. The positive prints can be found at SK/8/8/3/1 |
