DescriptionThis file contains papers stating the failure of the 1927 Cinematograph Films Act and criticizing the 1938 Cinematograph Films Act, with particular emphasis on the British film quotas. The papers offer an alternative of the Act's quota stipulations, suggesting separate film quotas for film renters and exhibitors to improve the quality of British films, and reduce the dominance of the American film industry in Britain. It includes two copies of Randolph Churchill's 'The Case for Separate Quotas', 'Extracts from Mr T. Dickinson's report on Quota' with corrections, 'The Cinematograph Exhibitors' Association are opposed to the Federation of British Industries' plan for the separation of Renters' from Exhibitors' Quota. Why?' with section headings for each point, and a paper with the same subject matter with sections marked as 'Mr Dickinson's point', 'Mr Williams' point' and 'Cost Qualification for Exhibitors' Quota.

This file also contain a typed draft of a letter or speech with notes in pencil, written by Anthony Asquith, regarding his Ministry of Information film, 'The Demi-Paradise' and his resignation. It does not state clearly what position he is resigning from. The document is dated 17 Apr 1943, and Asquith held the position of President of the A.C.T from 1937 until his death in 1968.
