Title | 'Berger/Jean Mohr', |
Description | This file contains 10 prints of black and white photographs showing the installation of an exhibition of photographs by Jean Mohr and John Berger.
The photographs show the installation of photographic prints on boards, in a linear sequence. They have been annotated in green pen with sequential numbering. [It is not quite clear where and when the exhibition took place. The exhibition list in CPG/1/1 states July 1979, but in conversation with Andrew Dewdeney and Claire Grey, in 2022-2023, they stated they did not recognise it. It may have been held on file as research for a potential exhibition at Cockpit that did not happen, or it may have also been a research file from the Camerawork archive [but so far no mention of a Camerawork show has been found]
Also included is one cropped print of a black and white photograph of a woman in a factory that does not appear to have been included in the exhibition. It may be by a different photographer. [It appears to be an image reproduced on the cover of Issue 10 of Camerawork Journal, 1978, which also included an article by Mohr and Berger. The image of the factory woman there is credited to Nick Hedges and it mentions it is part of the Half Moon Photography Workshop's touring exhibition, 'Factory Photographs'.] |
