TitleMike Abrahams: Growing Old, Half Moon Photography Workshop, 1977 - 1980
DescriptionPosters, press release, cuttings, captions, loan forms and correspondence relating to 'Growing Old'', an exhibition by Mike Abrams. The exhibition was inspired by the work of Gladys Elder, "a politically active pensioner" who was born in Glasgow in 1899 into a family involved in the early Scottish Socialist Movement. A flyer for Elder's book "The Alienated: Growing Old Today" (Writers and Readers Publishing Cooperative, 1977), which includes photographs by Abrams, is also included in the folder.

The exhibition was hired for loan by various organisations and galleries, including the News from Nowhere Bookshop, Fleet Community Education Centre, Blackthorn Books, The Beth Johnson Foundation, Caxton House, Institute of Education London, Wandsworth Borough Libraries and The Birtles Adult Education Centre.

Included in the folder is a letter from Mike Abrams to Ed Barber, asking for a panel caption to be amended following claims of libel from the Voluntary Euthanasia Society.
