DescriptionThe file contains photographs and negatives of costumes worn by monks, nuns and priests during the Middle Ages and oversized photocopies of them, as well as photocopies of costumes from Arabia, Palestine, Syria, Servia, Bulgaria and Spain. Also included are texts about history of costumes, sketches and paperwork from costume suppliers, and copies of catalogues of clerical clothing. Included are the following copies of the publications: 'Marvels of Charity: History of American Sisters and Nuns', by George Stewart Jr; and 'Guide to the Catholic Sisterhoods in the United States', by Thomas McCarthy [oversized sepia image on card, showing a man in traditional/religious dress was found loose and added to this file later. It is thought to be Eyes Wide Shut costume research due to the style of dress].
