Title4-6 Polish period reference material
DescriptionPeriod reference material on Polish urban and rural living before the Second World War. Materials were collated by Halina, an employee of Pleograf, [Polish photography agency]. Includes: Reproductions of photographs from the Akademia Sztuk Pieknych [Academy of Fine Arts, Krakow, Poland] and Muzeum Etnograficzne [Ethnographic Museum, Krakow], mostly interiors of middle class and peasant houses. Reproductions from the latter has details of subject, museum reference number and photographer if known, in Polish. Also collected reproductions of scenes of everyday life eg. the interior of offices, canteens, houses, furniture and funfairs. Interior and exterior photographs of farm cottages as an example of rural living from an open air village museum at Sierpc with promotional material for the same and other open air museums. Photographs of Polish villages and rustic barns and houses of a timber construction, negatives also included. An inventory of 'Halina recce [reconnaissance] to Lublin' with various locations named. Photographs of streets and buildings in Polish towns including Rogozno and Góra Kalwaria. Also copies of reference material including extracts from Polish books on houses and living arrangements, furniture, peasant living, modern urban living. An extract giving details of 'foreign films connected with Poland, produced in the years 1939-1967 and dealing with the period 1939-1945' the filmography has some highlighted titles. Packs of photos labelled 'The Public Utilities Interiors 1920-1930' includes restaurants, cafés and hotels in Krakow and Warsaw. Images of middle class urban apartments.
