DescriptionPictures of urban and rural life in the 18th Century. Included are images of life in the country with pictures of reapers by George Stubbs and of cattle being herded through London streets. Also included are scenes of family life and leisure pursuits, with images of cricket matches, people hunting and shooting, flower sellers, card players, smokers, a crowd at an opera, a Viennese masked ball, and walkers at Vauxhall's pleasure gardens in London. There are also pictures of a duel and the centres of the European cities of Leningrad, Dresden and Vienna, as well as reproductions of Joshua Reynolds's painting of the Marriage of George III and information on learned societies in England.
