TitleClarke, Arthur C
DescriptionCorrespondence between Arthur C Clarke and Stanley Kubrick regarding artistic ideas for the screenplay and novel. Of note is correspondence regarding the scene where HAL lip reads Bowman and Poole's conversation.

File also includes:
Correspondence between Arthur C Clarke and Anthony Wedgewood Benn.
Correspondence between RAF and Arthur C Clarke regarding short-period exposure of unprotected astronauts in vacuum conditions.
Correspondence with the National Aeronautics and Space Council [NASA].

The first letter from Arther C Clarke to Stanley Kubrick in this file, dated 8 April 1964 refers to enclosures sent with the letter. It is possible that one of the loose articles in the file entitled 'Extra-Terrestrial Relays' was one of the enclosures. Peter Kramer in '2001: A Space Odyssey' (BFI Classics, 2004) suggests the enclosure could have been 'The World of the Communications Satellite'
