DescriptionAdopting a horror genre, Kubrick interprets his version of the Stephen King novel of the same name. Stars Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. Nicholson plays Jack Torrance, a teacher and recovering alcoholic who has taken a position as caretaker at the Overlook Hotel out of season. Jack's son, Danny, has supernatural abilities that allow him to see disturbing visions and Jack's behaviour begins to change. Kubrick was also responsible for the production and co-wrote the screenplay with novelist Diane Johnson.
