| Description | The pencil draft was written by Kubrick and includes corrections. Kubrick has marked the cover 'SERIOUS VERSION/ Red Alert/ PENCIL DRAFT/ JULY 23 1962/ STANLEY KUBRICK/ DRAFT # 1/RED ALERT'. The original folder was labelled "SK- Red Alert - Serious Version". It is comprised of script written mainly in pencil, but also red pen, black pen and type. This would suggest that the pen and type pages of the script were written at a different time to the pencil drafted pages. Most of these pages were probably written at an earlier date as some have been written over in pencil and some of the typescript pages are dated 24 Feb 1962. It appears that some edits to the pencil draft were made in red pen in Kubrick's handwriting, suggesting the pencil draft was revised on at least one occasion after it was written.
