Title'2001 - A Space Odyssey' [Athena Text]
DescriptionBound screenplay by Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C Clarke, in which the central computer of the spaceship Discovery is called Athena. This screenplay varies greatly from the finished film with Bowman meeting extra terrestrial creatures towards the end. The screenplay is divided into the four sections A) for the Dawn of Man Sequence, B) for Floyd's journey to the Moon and investigation of the Monolith (a pyramid shape in this text), C) the Discovery sequences and D) Fantastic Voyage.

Apart from the sections on the moon the text reads like a treatment with a general explanation of the events and no specific dialogue incorporated. There are some sections given to a narator.

The text is printed on blue paper. The title page has handwritten in black pen the words Laurentic Film Prods. LTD. and the numbers 5. and S 635 in blue biro. The title page is also stamped British Film Institute Book Library.
