DescriptionBased on Louis Begley's novel 'Wartime Lies', the story of a Jewish boy and his aunt obtaining false papers to escape Nazi occupied Poland during the Second World War. Kubrick had wanted to make a film based during the Second World War for many years and decided to adapt Wartime Lies into the his film 'Aryan Papers'.

Location and historical research for props, costumes and sets began in earnest in 1991. Local photographers in various European countries including Ireland, Denmark, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Austria and East Germany set about finding suitable locations for filming.

Material includes treatments and development material for the script, research into locations for filming, research for props, costumes and sets, casting records, draft budgets, filming schedules and correspondence organising various aspects of the proposed shoot in Denmark and Czech Republic.
