Footsteps [FTS] or Foleys is the re-recording of the sounds that occur in relation to the movements on-screen that are not fully picked up by the microphones during filming. For example, a Foley artist re-recording the footsteps of a character walking on-screen to make them more audible, or the sound of someone pouring a drink into a cup. FXS is the recording of additional sounds within the film, for example, the sound of a bomb exploding, a crowd cheering, or a car engine starting.
