Fear and Desire Fear and Desire was released in 1953 but is not now on general release. Co-written with Howard Sackler, it was Kubrick's first feature film. Kubrick was involved at all stages of production: he controlled the cinematography and editing as well as the directing. Although it received a number of good reviews Kubrick later pulled the film.
