  <dc:title>Spartacus</dc:title>
<dc:description>Kubrick took over the direction of Spartacus after Kirk Douglas [whose production company, Bryna Productions, made the film] replaced the original director, Anthony Mann [the only remaining scene being the opening sequence in the slave quarry]. Despite this Kubrick influenced the filming and story direction of Spartacus, as shown in the records. Released, 1960 by Universal International/Pictures. Spartacus was based on the novel by Howard Fast.

Material has not been divided into production stages because Kubrick did not work on the pre-production and it is generally accepted that he also had little control over post-production, although he did make notes on post-production stages such as edits.

Material held includes: production paperwork; publicity material; photographs; and letters.</dc:description>
