<dc:title>Letters from the Writers Guild of America - strike order information</dc:title>
<dc:description>All letters are typed and addressed to 'ALL MEMBERS' and relate to impending strike action. The strike took place in 16 Jan-10 Jun 1960 [the second longest writers strike ever] and was aimed against producers, represented by the Association of Motion Picture Producers. Actors also came out in support of the writers but returned to work before 10 Jun 1960 [no one date]. The strikers were successful in getting the studios to raise pay and benefits. Universal International [the distributing studio for Spartacus] settled before the strike.
