  <dc:title>Sketches</dc:title>
<dc:description>This file contains four sketches that illustration Eckersley's skill as a draughtsman. Two are pen drawings of Mary (Kessel, his wife), one with shaded colour, both in profile: the first is her in Victorian dress; and the second is her in oriental dress, on the verso is a pen line drawing of the shape of a woman's body also in profile. Both are initialled 'TE'. There is a photocopy of a drawing dated 1938 annotated by Eckersley, "by a fellow student Central School'' that is also a profile of Mary. The other items are: a line drawing, face on, of a man in a bowler hat on Eckersley's headed writing paper, on the verso are some notes; and an abstract line drawing of a fisherman mending a net, waves, a boat and the sky are in the background. Coloured pens have been used to highlight areas. The drawing is possibly for a book illustration.</dc:description>
