In late 1952 the Bristol NUT voiced concerns about horror comics, in May 1953 the NUT's national Education Committee asked Canadian Teachers' Federation for information about its legislation against comics. The NUT's Education Committee forms a panel to investigate the problems with comics. 12 June 1953 the NUT's Education Committee received a report from its panel and agreed to begin gathering publications which could be harmful to children. 20 June 1953 the Education Committee decides it will approach a wholesale distribution of comics books to try and influence them not to import or sell them. 18 July 1953 the Education Committee agrees to hold discussions with the National Committee for the Defence of Children, National Federation of Women's Institutes, National Conference of Women and some churches. November 1954 the NUT and Picture Post held their exhibition against horror comics. However, the NUT did not get more involved and was very hesitant to engage further with the Comics Campaign Council as they believed they had other motives, possibly communist. At a local level support for action against horror and crime comics books continued in NUT local sections.</OtherInfo>
