Title | 'Cuttings' |
Description | This series contains a collection of newspaper and magazine cuttings featuring Dick’s photographic work. Publication houses include F22 (for which Dick worked as an editor; the first issue appears among this collection) Time Out, the British Journal of Photography, Architects Journal, Penthouse, Designer’s Journal, the Sunday Telegraph, Cultural Elite and Vanity Fair.
In an issue of F22 magazine held within this series, it is revealed that some of Dick’s 35mm photographs were shot using a Nikon F2.
Named individuals depicted within the cuttings include Danny Devito, Dame Edna Everage, and John Peel. Photographs of Harry Herbert, son of the Earl of Carnarvon, are featured in one of these cuttings, and the original negatives can be found in ‘Corporate’, DSS/1/23.
A collection of typed and handwritten documents refers to ‘The Dick Scott-Stewart Archive’. One of these items was written by Dick’s wife, Mog Scott-Stewart, after his death, where she writes about his photographic career – this appears to act as a form of letter of authentication for future prints created by the archive. Written work under the name ‘Mog Johnstone’ also appears in a handful of cuttings. |
