Description | The collection contains 54 postcards (9 x 14cms) of the girls, some in costume, most are annotated with handwritten date and name of performance; a copy of Macqueen-Pope, W. "Gaiety, theatre of Enchantment", W.H. Allen, 1949 (annotated); three journals - The Play Pictorial No 132 Vol XX11, The Play Pictorial No 118 Vol XX and The Play Pictorial No 130 Vol XX11. It also contains eight folders of cuttings and photographies of articles from magazines (mostly not dated) on Gertie Millar, Marie Studholme, Gabrielle Ray (including information on the establishment of a blue plaque by the Stockport Heritage Trust in April 2008), Lillie Elsie, Zena Dare, Camille Clifford, Phillis Dare, and various stars (mostly annotated by hand). It also includes a letter from Robert Waters. |
