DescriptionThe series contains books which were collected by Stanley Kubrick. It includes novels and factual books many of them about wars or the military of different nations and for different periods. There are a large number of books relating to the American Civil War including a full set of The National Historical Society series of 'War of the Rebellion Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies'.

Many of the books were given to Kubrick by friends and colleagues including a proof of John Le Carre's 'The Tailor of Panama' sent by Le Carre himself [real name David John Moore Cornwell] and a copy of 'The Memoirs of Field Marshall Montgomery' given to Kubrick by Michael Bates [actor in A Clockwork Orange] which includes a loose note from bates and a message from him on the inside front cover.

Please note that this section of the archive contains several hundred books and so cannot be retrieved for researchers; researchers should contact the archive if they would like to request to see specific works within the personal library.
