| Description | Four bound copies of a text entitled Journey Beyond the Stars [a prior title for 2001: A Space Odyssey].
The text ends with Dave Bowman in the hotel room suite being encouraged by a voice on a telephone to enter a doorway. The main text seems to predate the loose pages which make up SK/12/1/4 'Patchwork Text' as it includes the forward which appears in the completed novel 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The volumes are all numbered on the bottom right hand corner of the title page. On the title page of volumes 5 and 7, the title has been crossed out and 2001: A Space Odyssey written in hand above it. Number 7 also has #12 written in black ink on the cover. Number 6 has a section of text on yellow paper narrating the arrival of the star child by the Earth inserted at the back of the volume. The text on the insert is written in a column to the right of the page as with the second version of the 'First Draft Outline' SK/12/1/1/1. The insert is dated 9.12.65 [probably 12th September 1965].
