TitleFront Projection Plates
DescriptionGlass plates of African landscapes which were used to produce the backdrops for the Dawn of Man Sequence. Called front projection, or retroreflective matting, this system was used instead of standard techniques such as backdrops or back-projection as these did not produce a result that looked realistic enough. Box nine contains broken plates while box 28 contains two spare unused plates. Additionally there are plates of Jupiter and film stills among the landscapes.
