Title | Personal records |
Description | Charles Pickering's personal records contain his applications to posts in the Central School of Arts and Crafts (1946), correspondence relating to appointments, notebooks, scrapbooks, book gifts. Christmas cards and business cards from the years 1932 to 1960, dinner menus, black and white photographs, for example from the ATPAS conference in Glasgow 1965, his poetry ("Typography or The Adventures Concerning C.L.P."), a Jerusalem album, film strips and articles on printing can also be found.
The series also holds a draft version of his book "The Private Press Movement" (1958), 5 samples of the Chicago Tribune Ocean Times, which were "produced by the apprentices under my supervision during the General Strike 1926", and conference lecture notes from the years 1956-1968.
The series personal records forms an intellectual segment because all the records within the series do not relate to Charles London Pickering's working practice but to records that were kept for sentimental reasons. The content of the files has been left in their original state. |
