| Description | The records in this series were collected by Felicity Lewis due to her interest in Push Pin Studios. Lewis had worked for a small time with the studio's founders at Conde Nast in New York City in the early 1950s and followed their work. This series contains posters, envelopes, journals by Push Pin Studio. Founded in the early 1950s by Seymour Chwast, Reynold Ruffins, Edward Sorel, and Milton Glaser, Push Pin Studio.
The studio created works inspired by victorian, art deco and art nouveau. They published almanacks, and later the almanacks successor Push Pin Monthly Graphic, a monthly periodical as well as posters, advertisements, pamphlets and more. Push Pin not only printed and published their in house designs, they were also hired by clients to produce book jackets, posters, advertisements, magazine covers and record covers. In 1971 Push Pin studio served as art directors for Audience magazine. In 1973 the magazine ended due to insufficient funding. In 1975 Glaser departed Push Pin. Push Pin continued with Chwast as its Director. |
