Description | Berlin based artist Christina Kubisch has been developing 'electrical walks' which make audible the otherwise undetectable sound waves generated by electromagnetic signals that surround us -coming from security systems, mobile phones, public transport and computers. Kubisch devised an Electrical Walk around Kensington in collaboration with the Goethe- Institut, London 10 November - 18 December 2005. Visitors could pick up the headphones at the Goethe Institut to discover the hidden soundscape of Kensington according to Kubisch's specially developed map. Kubisch maintains that the technology of the future is invisible, inaudible, wireless, and it is these hidden worlds that she seeks to make audible. Curated by Lina Dzuverovic and Anne Hilde Neset |
