DescriptionFile containing a photocopied printout of correspondence between Katherine Dunham (1909-2006), a pioneering African American dancer, choreographer, and anthropologist, and Eleanora Deren, likely intended for Maya Deren, whose birth name was Eleanora Derenkowsky. Deren was Dunham's secretary in the 1940s. The file also includes images of Katherine Dunham and her dancers, as well as photocopied newspaper articles about early avant-garde films and programs featuring lectures on film by Maya Deren.
