| Description | This important report was commissioned to investigate and evaluate training, schools and employment in the Printing Industry. Schools that Smail reviewed include St Bride Foundation Printing School, Regent Street Polytechnic, Balderton Street Branch, Borough Polytechnic, Aldenham Institute, Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, Central School of Arts and Crafts, and various London County Council Institutes including the London County Council School of Photo-Engraving and Lithography (Bolt Court). It culminated in calls for the amalgamation of the printing schools and alongside the Education Act 1944 reformed education in Britain and caused the merger of the London County Council School of Photo-Engraving and Lithography (Bolt Court), and the London School of Printing and Kindred Trades to form the London School of Printing and Graphic Arts. |
