Title | 'Women Smoking, Poverty, The Dogs, The Races, Anti-War Rally' |
Description | This series houses a collection of black and white photographic prints relating to various topics of interest, as suggested by the title: ‘Women Smoking, Poverty, The Dogs, The Races, Anti War Rally’. The photographs are taken both in situ and in the studio context and range from candid to posed.
One particular photograph shows an alley between the back of a row of terraced houses and a bridge. There are two people in frame, standing close to a pile of cardboard which has been set on fire. An image of the same scene, which focuses more closely on the fire, appears in ‘Misc. + Abstracts’ (DSS/1/22). Other subjects not referenced in the portfolio title include individuals wearing clown makeup and costumes.
Additionally, seven large print copies of the first issue of F22 magazine (of which Dick was an editor) can be found in the inside flap of the portfolio.
Please note that this series contains instances of nudity. |
