Title'Portraits Unknown'
DescriptionThis series contains black and white photographic prints (some of which have been colourised) and contact sheets. The contents are primarily portraits, taken in studio, public, and indoor settings. Named individuals include: ‘Suggs from Madness’ (a number of unnamed musicians also feature in this series), ‘Harry Diamond’, ‘Eva Wind’ (who also appears in Dick’s collection, 'Washington Civil War Society Brinsworth House' DSS/1/14), 'Lee Hall', 'Marsha Gorbet', 'Vivian Fay', and a number of 'Chief Exec.'s from 'Unigate', 'St. Ivel', 'Express Dairy', and 'TVS'.

Additionally, there are a few shots of newly wed couples, one of which has been colourised using chalk pastels. Some of the images also appear in his ‘India’ project (DSS/1/15).

The series also encloses a folder labelled ‘Black People/Brixton’, which contains an additional collection of prints. As well as this, the series contains an A3 poly pocket, which houses a collection of black and white prints and contact sheets depicting an individual identified as ‘Riona Critchell’.

Please note that this series contains instances of nudity.
