She addresses how she approaches the nature of documentation, constructions of nature, interactions/ slippages between the placement of electronic installations in natural/public spaces and the 'natural' environment. She continues to discuss how she began creating the Electrical walks, and specifically electro-magnetic induction and human made natural electro-magnetic waves which lead to the 2003 private walk in Tokyo, and 2004 first public electrical walk in Cologne through which she highlights her understanding of different electro-magnetic fields in different environments and over time, and in brain waves. She discusses specific equipment and the development of the headphones used in her electrical walk installations. Kubisch responds to questions of if and how gender manifests in her work, and of her position as an artist in relation to these issues. In response she discusses some different approaches to techniques of women working in electronics, the nature of collaboration, definitions of sound art and issues of payment & funding. |
