Description | The books (HN/1/1) offer a collection including texts and catalogues concerned with the various themes interlacing the entire program, from zine and DIY culture, through to performance art and critical theory. Of special mention is 'An Individual Note', by Daphne Oram, a founding text that is becoming increasingly hard to find. especially the zines (HM/1/6) offer a glimpse in time of the formation of alternative networks for communication and the sharing of ideas. Dzuverovic, Revell and Hedditch each collected zines and contributed to zine culture, a small selection of which is represented here. The magazines, Chickfactor, Shocking Pink and The High Horse combine the concept of the zine with wider notions of distribution whilst maintaining the same collective dedication to the circulation of ideas that are more often than not ignored by mainstream press. The collection of The Wire, has been donated by Electra and offers a further informational resource for many of the artists included within the project. |
