| Title | ‘Adventures in Wine Trade' |
| Description | Five-page typed autobiographical narrative by Lindsay Cooper, with minor handwritten spelling corrections. Written in the first person, the text recounts her experiences working as a server in a wine bar, including a bank holiday trip to Picardy with two colleagues. The account describes her personal relationship with one of the colleagues, as well as an incident on return to the UK in which customs officials searched their belongings due to marijuana in her possession. The narrative also describes Lindsay Cooper’s interactions with customers and coworkers, particularly men, including observations on misogynistic attitudes encountered in the work place and her responses to them as a queer woman. The piece also references members of the Lambton family visiting the establishment following their public scandal, and closes with a mention of contacting Henry Cow, a band she would join in 1974. |
