DescriptionThe first volume is embossed 'Papers' and has a handwritten inscription on the interior that it was presented to the School by Charles W Gamble [former Principle], May 1931 and covers 1893-1901. It contains: the first Annual Report, 1893; event invites and programmes for example, for the Guild and Technical School [School's name 1893-c1895] National Society of Lithographic Artists opening night, 4 Nov 1895; application form c1895; official letters to the Technical Education Board, 1890s; announcements of student exhibits for example, Feb 1898; lecture handbills, 1890s; a handwritten page by Gamble about the Twain Design Competition, 1899; items about the Art Student Sketch Club, 1898-1901; original letter confirming the School's name change to London County Council School of Photoengraving and Lithography, 9 Apr 1900; information about joint lectures with the Northampton Institute, Clerkenwell, 1899-1901; list of courses, 1900; and a letter about special arrangements for the School due to the funeral of Queen Victoria, 29 Jan 1901 written on mourning paper.
