It contains: the first Annual Report, 1893; event invites and programmes for example, for the Guild and Technical School [School's name 1893-c1895] National Society of Lithographic Artists opening night, 4 Nov 1895; application form c1895; official letters to the Technical Education Board, 1890s; announcements of student exhibits for example, Feb 1898; lecture handbills, 1890s; a handwritten page by Gamble about the Twain Design Competition, 1899; items about the Art Student Sketch Club, 1898-1901; original letter confirming the School's name change to London County Council School of Photoengraving and Lithography, 9 Apr 1900; information about joint lectures with the Northampton Institute, Clerkenwell, 1899-1901; list of courses, 1900; and a letter about special arrangements for the School due to the funeral of Queen Victoria, 29 Jan 1901 written on mourning paper.
The second volume is embossed 'Papers 2' and has a handwritten inscription on the interior that it was presented to the School by Charles W Gamble [former Principle], May 1931 and covers 1902. It contains letters to Charles W Gamble, many thanking him for student and, or School produced work from a range of bodies for example, the Lord Mayor and the Bodleian Library at Oxford University. There is also a letter from Walter Crane (1845-1915) crediting the School's work. All the letters are in response to receiving a copy of the Report [see LCC/1/1]. |
