Description | Minutes, reports and correspondence regarding the governance of the London Musicians Collective (LMC).
As a collective, LMC initially evolved without any formal organisational structure, and there was a distinct mistrust of hierarchy and bureaucracy amongst some of the membership. In 1997 an Executive Committee was established in order to facilitate liaison with funding organisations and to meet legal requirements for registering as a limited company and applying for registered charity status. The 10 committee members were elected annually by the membership and held monthly meetings that were open to LMC members to attend. In 1988, the Executive Committee was replaced by the Board of Trustees.
By the early 1990s a Board of Directors was also established, who carried out the bulk of the clerical and administrative work, supported at times by administrative staff. |
