Audio 1 [00:00] Carol Tulloch; Professor at Chelsea College of Art; part-time Visiting Tutor at London College of Communication (LCC) and Central Saint Martins (CSM) from 1998-2000; began full-time post as a Senior Research Fellow in 2003. [01:15] Completing a History of Design course in 1997 with Victoria & Albert Museum and Royal College of Art; postgraduate certificate in Education; courses taught on at CSM and LCC; early experience of teaching and working at other institutions. [03:51] Background before becoming a Visiting Tutor; trained as a secretary, worked in the City; studied Fashion Design at Ravensbourne College of Art and Epsom College of Art. [06:30] Impressions of London art colleges; selecting Ravensbourne to study. [08:32] Coming to the London Institute; using music, objects and archival material in teaching; confidence of students, difference in confidence of overseas students; supporting students and setting up ‘work in progress’ sessions. [14:15] Residual separate feeling of Central School and Saint Martins, confusion over operational arrangement; moving to Chelsea, joining the Research Centre for Transnational Art, Identity and Nation (TrAIN); importance of dress as a subject, and how it can be used in academic study.
