DescriptionMaterial in this sub-series is linked to Exton's adaptation of William Gaddis' 1975 novel JR which won the U.S. National Book Award in that same year. The novel and screen play tell the storry of precoccious J. R. Vansant, an 11-year-old schoolboy whoconceals his identity through payphone calls and postal money orders in order to transform penny stock holdings into a fortune on paper. The novel broadly satirizes what Gaddis called "the American dream turned inside out.'
