TitleBoard of Trade
Description['Board of Trade' is possibly the title Thorold Dickinson gave this folder.] It includes a press statement dated 31 Oct 1937 on behalf of the A.C.T and other film workers and technicians trade unions, in relation to the proposed Cinematograph Films Act 1938. In addition to this is a 25 point typed response to the new bill. There are two typescripts of the A.C.T's 'Proposed Studio Standard Agreement', and one draft version, which has Dickinson's hand-written notes and is accompanied by salary rates of various film technicians. One typed copy of 'A Memorandum on the Scarcity of the Film Supply Together with a Scheme for the Rehabilitation of British Film Production' by Sidney L. Bernstein, dated 17 Nov 1939 [this typescript was possibly sent from Bernstein to Dickinson or to the A.C.T], Dickinson's hand-written notes on the 1937 films quota, two pamphlets by the A.C.T titled, 'The Film Crisis', which lists the findings of a meeting held at Wyndham's Theatre, London on 20 Nov 1949, and 'Our Case In Parliament' by George Elvin, and a press cutting from the 'New Statesman' 3 Sept 1960 of an article titled 'The Pygmalion of Sex'.
