TitleLepra [British Leprosy Relief Association] posters
DescriptionThe file includes a poster signed by Eckersley and a smaller printer proof poster of the same design. The header slogan reads 'help Lepra fight [in black text] Leprosy [red text], with a secondary slogan '20 MILLION PEOPLE SUFFER TODAY'. The image is a silhouette in black of a mans profile, facing to the left, in a band across his crown is a world map. The top of the map is in white and the bottom in red. The background is also in white, giving the impression that it seeps into the image. The poster won the Design Council Poster Award for 1975/76 but Eckersley has dated it 1981. Measures, 76cm by 51cm and 63cm by 51cm [proof]. The magazine spots use the slogan 'LEPROSY isolates', with a block of text about the charity and a box for personal details and a pledge. Two image motifs are used, a boys torso in black in the foreground with a ring of girls in grey in the background and a sexless figure in a black shroud like garment. Various sizes.
