TitleBritish Railways posters
DescriptionThe file contains posters signed by Eckersley.

The first is advertising 'Lincolnshire' by train in green text at the header. The image covers the whole poster and is a landscape of patchwork fields with sheep, trees and a church spire. The style is like a watercolour painting and is quite different from post of Eckersley's post-war work. Various greens are used for the trees and fields, with one patch a primary yellow, and a sky blue with clouds of white for the sky. Mounted on board. Measures, 100.5cm by 63cm.

The second is advertising a brochure of 'holiday haunts' in the East and North East of England, costing 2 shillings. The text is in black. The image features a sailboat, patches of colour and a stemmed glass that form an abstract multi coloured design. Measures, 31.5cm by 25.5cm.

The third instructs passengers to 'mind that door' in khaki text with sub-text to remind people not to open carriage doors when the train is in motion in black and red. The image is in the form of a collage, with a black and white photograph of a man stepping out an open carriage door to the right and hitting a stylised figure made-up of red blocks who is falling. The background is white. Mounted on board. Printed by the British Transport Commission. Measures, 101cm by 63cm.

The fourth features no text and features an image in the top third of a white page: the image is of a little boy with a spinning wind toy in red, black, oranges, red and white mainly block colours with some details sponged over. The boy has a yellow sun to his right and is sitting on a mint block with a capital red R beneath his foot. Measures, 101.5cm by 63.1cm. Printed by, Stafford & Co, Netherfields, Notts.

The fifth advertises London Midland Express Freight. It features a pink train bisecting a turquoise pocket-watch and the text "door-to-door overnight on time."
